Are you curious about getting involved? We’ll be filling the following positions:

1st and 3rd Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Alternate Delegate

AMTA National has written detailed descriptions of each position, which we’ve linked from our chapter leadership page. (Just clink on any position title to learn more. We’d also like to share a little more about what these positions look like for our little chapter.

Board members are elected positions. They will be required to attend the annual meeting/board meeting (1 day) and the volunteer retreat/board meeting (2 days), and will sit on a committee and/or participate in one chapter-sponsored event per year.

Vice presidents support the chapter president. Their duties vary, and the position is tailored to suit the strengths of the officer.

The secretary attends board meetings to act as time keeper and keep meeting minutes. Within one week of the meeting, minutes are submitted to the board for approval, and within two weeks are sent to National.

The treasurer’s position is currently being overhauled at the National level. No accounting experience is necessary. The main responsibilities include attending board meetings to provide input, submitting expense reports to National on a “weekly” basis. (These will be minimal, and apply only as chapter money is spent!), creating the annual budget, and leading the annual budget meeting.

Alternate delegates attend the National Convention (in Pittsburgh this year) to observe the House of Delegates meeting, where chapters vote to adopt AMTA position statements. If the Delegate is unable to attend the meeting, the Alternate Delegate sits in their place. The Delegate and Alternate Delegate will collaborate to survey the members about the position statements and recommendations that will come before the house of delegates.

Committee chairs and members are appointed positions. These folks volunteer (or are volunteered!) to fill more specific roles within chapter, such as organizing continuing education events, NMTAW events, or member outreach. If you are looking to test the waters, volunteering for a committee may be great fit for you.

We are currently looking or committee members and chairs on the Communications, Membership, Continuing Education and NMTAW committees.

If you have an interest—or a skill to share—please let us know!  We have short term projects (1-4 hours) and medium term projects (4-12 hours), single event volunteering and single event project planning.
